Experiences are better than things.

Attending summer classes, reading for hours in the library, preparing presentations and automatic/infinite assignments, working on the project have been my daily routine for the past 4 months, and of course, coffee has been my only friend on this hectic journey - to keep me from falling asleep.

After working hard and finishing the semester, I and 9 other friends went on a trip to Goeje and Tongyeong - two beautiful islands in the southern part of Korea. Geoje is the second largest island in Korea after Jeju. The island is ideal for exploring Korean nature as there are many hiking trails through the mountains. It also has very beautiful beaches for swimming, some with fine sand, others with pebbles.

If there is only 1 thing to recommend in Geoje, it is certainly the beautiful Oedo Island - Oedo Botania is a fascinating place. It's like being in a European Palace, the Korean version of Hawaii and Alice in Wonderland all at the same time - quite a delicious combination. The white classical statues, the twisting hedges, the semi-tropical plants and the rugged rocky coastline all add to the curiosity of the place.

It would have been nice to sit on a chair and enjoy the natural beauty of this green island in Geoje. Geoje is a beautiful island in the southern part of South Korea and consists of many large and small islands with a blue coastline and charming landscapes. The island is connected to Busan by a bridge and tunnel under the sea, making travel very convenient.

Everywhere you look, you can admire a gorgeous garden of unique plants surrounded by blue waters. In the distance, you can see the mountainous relief of the coast, which forms a beautiful backdrop to this little paradise.

In many towns, even the smaller ones, you can admire the street art. Even better, these days many major cities have professional graffiti and urban art tours that explain the history of this artistic movement and the works you see in context. The funny thing is that street art can change from one day to the next. We also had a very good tour guide team and they actually filled our trip with our own stories. When we came back from our week-long trip, we were amazed at all the adventures we had had and the amazing people we had met.

Stay tuned for the next parts of the story...
